3 Colorful Recipes for Holi

#1. Bread Tarts


  • 1/2 Cup Sweet Corn
  • 2 Table_Sp Red Capsicum (Bell Pepper) Finely Chopped
  • 2 Table_Sp Yellow Capsicum (Bell Pepper) Finely Chopped
  • 2 Table_Sp Green Capsicum (Bell Pepper) Finely Chopped
  • 1/8 Cup Onion Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Tomato Peeled, Blanched and Chopped
  • 1/2 Tea_Sp Garlic Clove Finely Chopped
  • 3/4 Tea_Sp Oil
  • 1/3 Tea_Sp Mixed Herbs
  • 1/2 Tea_Sp Chili Seasoning (Chili Flakes)
  • Salt To Taste

For Bread Tarts

  • 2 Slice Whole Wheat Bread Crust removed
  • 1/8 Tea_Sp Butter Melted, For Greasing

For Garnishing

  • 1 Tea_Sp Tomato Sauce
  • 2 Tea_Sp Paneer (Cottage Cheese) Low Fat Grated


For the filling

  • Heat the oil in broad non-stick pan, add the garlic and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  • Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add the capsicum and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  • Add the tomatoes, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  • Add the dried mixed herbs, chilli flakes, sweet corn and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Keep aside.

For the bread tarts

  • Remove the crust from all the bread slices.
  • Roll each slice with a rolling pin.
  • Press the rolled slices into the cavities of a muffin tray which is lightly greased with butter.
  • Brush with melted butter and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200ºc (400ºf) for 8 to 10 minutes or until crisp. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  • Divide the filling into 2 equal portions and fill a portion into each bread tart.
  • Spread ½ tsp of tomato ketchup and 1 tsp Paneer evenly over each tart.

Serve Immediately

#2. Fruit Posicles



  • 1/4 Cup Kiwi Sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1/4 Cup Strawberries Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Papaya Cut into slices
  • 1/8 Cup Black Grapes Cut into Slices
  • 150 ML Coconut Water



  • Combine fruit in a mixing bowl, and arrange the mixture into Popsicle molds.
  • Pour coconut water into each mold to just cover fruit.
  • Insert Popsicle sticks and freeze until solid (about 6 hours).
  • Makes 2 Sticks.

#3. Dry Date Delight


  • 150 Gram Low Fat Dahi (Curd)
  • 10 Gram Sugar
  • 2 Piece Badam (Almond) Chopped
  • 4 Piece Dried Dates Chopped
  • 1/4 Tea Sp Pepper Powder Coarsely grounded
  • 6 Piece Kesar (Saffron) Strands
  • 1 Tea Sp Kismis (Raisins) Chopped
  • 1 Tea Sp Unsalted Pistachios Chopped


  • Soak the Saffron Strands in 1 Teaspoon of Curds.
  •  Add sugar to rest of the curd and mix well.
  • Add chopped almond, dry dates and raisins, mix well
  • Add black pepper and the soaked Kesar strands.
  • Refrigerate for 30 mins.
  • Serve cold.
