Preventive medical tests for women
Here is a list of medical tests that all women should take from time to time as a precaution against common health diseases in women.
Cervical Cancer- Get a PAP smear test every year to help trace any changes in the cervix. This is good preventive measure against cervical cancer which is a very common in Indian women
Breast Cancer- Take a mammogram test once every 2 years after the age of 40. This will help keep track of any symptoms related to breast cancer
Osteoporosis: A condition where bones become weak and are likely to break. Women should get a DEXA scan (Dual X-ray Absorptiometry) to measure bone health after the age of 40
Thyroid disorders: Women are more likely to have thyroid dysfunction than men and quite often overlook the symptoms like tiredness, weak muscles, sudden weight gain or loss, increased menstrual flow etc as symptoms of other conditions. You must test your thyroid once every 6 months
High Cholesterol (Lipid) level – Track your cholesterol levels especially if you have a family history of heart disease by doing a cholesterol test once every 6 months.
Anaemia: A low Haemoglobin or “blood count” is known as anaemia and it can disrupt the normal functioning of your body. Every 6 months, you must take a A complete blood count (CBC) test to check your haemoglobin
Dental health- You must take a dental check- up once every 6 months to take care of your dental health
