Healthy Tulsi Ginger kadha – Easy Home Remedy for Cold Cough

If you have elders at home, say your Dadi or Nani then the home remedies for almost all problems would be a nice warm cup of kadha.  What is a kadha?  It is a blend of age old tradition and wonderful secrets of Ayurveda in one cup.

Ajwain (carom seeds) and Saunf (fennel seeds) are a commonly used spice in every home.  It adds to the flavors in various Indian delicacies.  Ajwain seeds are rich in fiber, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants and Saunf or fennel seeds are concentrated in minerals like copper, potassium, calcium, zinc, manganese, vitamin c, iron, selenium and magnesium.

From fighting cold to aiding in digestion both these ingredients are packed with loads of health benefits. Ajwain is known to prevent stomach upsets. The active enzymes in Ajwain boost your digestive functions by facilitating the release of gastric juices. Ajwain is also found to be potent against cold and nasal blockages, directly helping in discharging the nasal mucus.

Fennel seeds or Saunf like Ajwain, are found to be effective in fighting against constipation, irritable bowel disease (ibw), bloating and indigestion. Certain researches highlight its positive role in managing your blood pressure. Saunf or fennels seeds also help flush out toxins and excess of the fluid acting as a powerful diuretic.

Recipe:

Ingredients :

Ajwain 1 teaspoon

Sauf 1 teaspoon

Hing powder ¼ teaspoon

Method :

  • To boiling water add one teaspoon each of ajwain and saunf.
  • Let the decoction boil for several minutes and then add Hing powder
  • Strain it in a glass
  • Drink this after your meals for improving digestion.
